The Secret Life of Charles Lindbergh

Okay, so we know that Charles Lindbergh was an extremely popular aviator and that he successfully flew from New York to Paris. We also know the famous kidnapping case that involved his son. But, what else do we know about Charles Lindbergh? In this article, Mental Floss sheds some light on Lindbergh's interests, beliefs, achievements, and his secret life. In my opinion, the most interesting part of the article is the section on Lindbergh's secret German family. Yep, you read that right! Proven by DNA tests, Lindbergh had an affair with a German woman in the 50's named Brigitte Hesshaimer (I had to giggle at this because my last name is Hess. We have a strong German background ;) ). Brigitte had three children throughout the course of this affair, but they were kept completely in the dark about who their father actually was. It wasn't until after Lindbergh's death that the children discovered who their father was, but they kept it a secret at the request of their mother. They revealed their secret to the world in 2003 after their mother passed away. I was SHOCKED when I read this! And I was even more shocked when I read that Lindbergh's German children stated that he was having an affair with their mother's sister at the same time! This has been your weekly dose of Drama in the Sky. For more on Charles Lindbergh and his secret life, visit http://mentalfloss.com/article/27051/5-things-you-didnt-know-about-charles-lindbergh.
