An interesting article in the British Journal of Medicine takes a step back and looks at parachuting differently. They tried to find studies that had performed a randomized trial on the effectiveness of a parachute and they did not find one such study. The authors found contradicting instances where individuals survived after falling from as high as 33,000 feet without a parachute. The point of the article, although satire, is to point out that scientific evidence is not always needed to make the case for something. Common sense can be applied to many situation and experimental evidence is not the holy grail it is made out to be sometimes. It is a funny article to read and well worth your time. The terminology that is used and the humor in it is quite funny. The link is posted below.
